Glitch
Made for IndieCritical Summer Jam 2025 [Cash Prizes and Coverage] - itch.io
As usual I decided to join a jam as it was ending, so I only spent 3-4 days on this. I've been extremely demotivated lately so this was a real challenge for me mentally, especially so close to the deadline, but I decided to go for it!
The theme of the jam is "It's not what it seems". I decided to interpret this as a game that subverts the expectations of games in general. In this glitchy creation, the things you take for granted in video games might not work the way you'd expect...
See if you can figure out this quirky puzzle-platformer by thinking abstract!
Please let me know how far you get - and if you make it past the particularly 4th-wall breaking ones at the end!
CONTROLS:
A/D - movement
Space - jump
Left Mouse - attack
E - interact
P - pause/menu
How it fits the theme. Without giving too much away, I've tried to take the expectations people have for games in general and turn them on their head to create quirky, 4th-wall breaking puzzles. When we play modern games, we make a lot of assumptions about the game world. The mechanics in "Glitch" make sense if you view the world for what it is, not what you assume them to be. I had several ideas that I didn't have time to include, unfortunately, since I seem unable to join a jam when it actually starts, so please enjoy this demo and its quirky concepts. Let me know which you enjoyed and if you have any additional ideas you'd like to see.
(P.S. I didn't have time for sound, so I made that fit the theme too - it seems to be totally silent, but not quite!) xD
